1. Where do I go on the city website to sign up for CodeRed?: On the City of Rawlins website (http:/www.rawlinswy.org) select Departments on the drop-down box, select Police Department. This will direct you to the Police Departments web page, on that page select the CodeRed Icon, that will take you to the CodeRed web page to sign up.

2. What permits do I need to demolish a home?: To get a building removed requires permits and additional help. For detailed information contact Community Development located in City Hall @ 521 W. Cedar Street, phone number 307-328-4500 ext. #1015.

3. Is there a Curfew for the City of Rawlins?: Municipal Code of Rawlins Section 9.28.010, Any minor under the age of sixteen found on any highway, street, alley, thoroughfare, bar, pool hall, club or any public place within the limits of the city between the hours of 10:30 P.M. and 6:00 A.M., unless able to give lawful excuse therefore, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.

4. How common is rabies in Wyoming?: According to a news release from the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, the disease is endemic in skunk populations in the northern and northeastern parts of Wyoming and in the bat population state wide.

5. How can I avoid dog attacks?: If you encounter a vicious dog, DO NOT RUN. Instead, move slowly away from the animal by walking backwards or sideways. Do not turn your back on the dog. If the dog approaches you and you cannot keep distance between you, stand very still and avoid any sudden movements. If you are laying on the ground, lay still, avoid any sudden movements and protect your face and neck.

6. What if I fail to return the citation prior to the court date written on the citation?: The officer, when issuing a citation, will put the court date on the citation. If you do not pay this citation or make arrangements with the Municipal Court Clerk on or before the court date on the citation, the Judge could issue a warrant for your arrest. If you do not contest the ticket, you will need to go to the Municipal Court Clerk and pay the amount listed on the ticket on or before the Court date issued on your citation. The Municipal Court Clerk can be reached by calling, 307-328-4535 or 307-328-4500.

7. What does a "Warning" mean on a motor vehicle citation?: There is no fine associated with a warning. The Rawlins Police Department does not issue warning tickets. The officer will give you a verbal warning or write a citation.

8. Are fingerprinting services available?: Fingerprinting services are available at the Carbon County Building, 415 W. Pine Street in Rawlins on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 1:00P.M. and 3:00P.M.You will need to contact the Carbon County Sheriffs Department at 307-324-2776.

9. What is the process in filing a vehicle accident report?: Any time there is an accident within the City of Rawlins you need to call the Police Department. If someone is injured in the accident you need to call 911. When a 911 call comes in on an accident, an Officer will try and get to the scene faster and an ambulance will be dispatched. In case of an injury accident, everyone must remain at the scene, especially the drivers of both vehicles. If the driver of any vehicle in the accident drives off, he or she could be arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with injury. In any case with an accident, all vehicles must remain at the scene. Do not move the vehicles until directed to do so by the Officers. DO NOT LEAVE the scene unless you want a ticket. If the damage to the vehicle (which means one or both vehicles combined) totals up to or over $1,000 one must complete a State Accident Report. If you fail to fill out and send in your State Accident Report within ten days from when the Police Department files the report to the State, your drivers license will be suspended by the the State of Wyoming. You can pick up a copy of the Officers report at the Rawlins Police Department. You can also pick up a State Accident Report, or complete it on the computer by going to State of Wyoming - Accident Report. A charge will be assessed when picking up an Officers accident report. Let your Insurance Company know you were in an accident. I you have questions, please call the Police Station on their non-emergency number @ 307-328-4530 or stop by the Station located at 215 5th Street.

10. How do I report Graffiti?: Contact the Police Department at 307-328-4530 or 307-328-4531 or come by the Police Department at 215 5th Street to file a police report. Go to the Dispatch window, where the Dispatcher will take the information, and call an Officer to take the report.

11. How do I get a stop sign installed?: See Rawlins Municipal Code Chapter 10.06.040. The Urban Systems Committee makes recommendations regarding signage. You may contact the Committee by calling Public Works, Cheryl Moore 307-328-4599.

12. What is the Wyoming State Penitentiary contact information?: P.O. Box 400, Rawlins,WY 82301 @ 307-328-1442.

13. 14. Where can I obtain a license for my pet?: You can obtain a license at City Hall (521 W Cedar Street) with proof of Rabies Vaccination, additionally there are two Veterinary Hospitals that sell license's, Carbon County Veterinary Hospital @ 921 Airport Road, 307-324-5635 and Hones Veterinary Service, LLC @ 517 W. Spruce Street, 307-324-9999.

15. Does the City of Rawlins pick up trash?: The City of Rawlins does not provide municipal trash pick-up, however private companies will pick up curb side trash. There are currently two companies within the city: Dirty Boyz at 321-3874 and Wyoming Waste Management at 307-324-5494.

16. When are City Council Meetings Held?: Council Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month starting at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 521 W. Cedar Street, phone number 307-328-4500. Special Meetings are advertised in the (local paper) Rawlins Daily Times at 307-324-3411. To get on the Agenda for Council Meetings call the City Clerk at 307-328-4500x1005.

17. How do I obtain a Marriage License?: Contact Carbon County Justice of the Peace at 307-324-6655.

18. How do I register to vote?: Contact Carbon County Elections Department at 307-328-2650.

19. How can I register my bicycle?: Contact the Police Department at 307-328-4530, or bring the bike by the Station at 215 5th Street. An Officer will get the serial number and record it.

20. What can I do if I have lost my pet?: Call the Rawlins Rochelle Animal Shelter at 307- 328-4534 or the Rawlins Police Department at 307-328-4530 and report the missing pet as soon as possible. Visit the Animal Shelter at 2711 E. Murray to ensure that your pet is not there. Keep identification tags on your pet at all times. To update the license data base contact the Deputy City Clerk to report a change of address for your pet 307-328-4500.

21. What does Community Development do?: Area's of responsibility are: Building Permits, Gas Pressure Tests, Electrical Inspections, Water & Sewer Taps, Street Cut Permits, Building Code questions, Set-Backs, Contractor's Licenses for general contractors, handyman, specialty trades, electricians, plumbers, HVAC (heating and air conditioning), fire suppression, signs, Code Enforcement, Nuisance Abatement, Board of Adjustments, Construction Board, and the Rawlins Planning Commission. 22. What do I need to do to have a special event in the town, or in a park?: Contact the City Clerk at 307-328-4500x1005, visit the Finance Department for a special use permit, Contact Recreation Service at 307-324-7529 to reserve a Pavilion at Washington or Bolton Parks.
