The Rawlins Fire Department provides a full range and specific set of services to the community of Rawlins Wyoming
ans the surrounding areas of Carbon County. These services include but are not limited to these following:


Fire Suppression: The Rawlins Fire Department has the capability to
offer full fire suppression for commercial and residential structures, vehicle and urban interface operations. All fire department personnel both
paid and volunteer, are fully trained under Wyoming State and NFPA
Stadards in such areas as the ICS System, Fire Offocer I-II, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor I-II, Fire Fighter I-II and FAO.

 

Rescue: The Rawlins Fire Department provides rescue operations for the City of Rawlins and part of Carbon county upon request. These services include: vehicle extrication, Heavy Rescue, High Angle and Confined Space. The Rawlins Fire Department is trained and ready for respond to a large variety of rescue operations when called on.

 


Hazardous Materials: The Rawlins Fire Department is capable of a Hazardous Materials response from anything from a small gasoline spill to a full Level A response within the City of Rawlins and surrounding Carbon County, if called upon. Fire Department personnel hold a wide variety od Hazmat certifications from Hazmat Awareness to the Technician Level and IC.

Training: The Rawlins Fre Depaartment's personnel train a minimum of 36 hours
annually per individual. 2009 recorded hours for the department as a whole,
which included several live training senarios and specialty training. Our state of
the art training center, located at Fire Station 2, is utilized to cunduct live fire
training in our burn tower, comfined space training in the Vault, rope rescue
operations, extrication, smoke house evolutions, natural gas props (new for
2009) and various other drills. Our training facility is also available to surrounding

Fire Safty Inspections: The Rawlins Fre Department career personnel conduct annuel inspections and pre-planning
maintenance of all public access structures within the City of Rawlins. The department currently uses the 2009 Building
Code as a gudline to follow these daily inspections within our community.

 


Fire Hydrant Maintenance: The Rawlins Fire Department career personnel also conduct semi-annual inspections and
maintenance of approximatly 530 fire hydrants throughout the City of Rawlins. These inspections include physical
maintenance, flow tests and pressure testing and painting hydrants.

 


Fire Prevention & Public Education: The Rawlins Fire Departent offers a wide
variety of fire prevention and public educations programs for people of all ages
throughout our community and out laying cities. Some of these include a
Traveling Fire Safty House, smoke detector program, career days at the schools,
club presentations and tours, informations fairs, as well as full involvement in
National Fire Prevention Week.


Chimney Brush Program: This is a FREE program that was started to aid in reducing the number of chimney fire that occur in the city. Brushes and Rods can be checked out to the public FREE of charge at Fire Station 1 for chiney cleaning purposes. Information on proper cleaning techniques can also be provided.


Burn Relief Fund: The Rawlins Fire Department has a fund, established by the volunteers, through fund raising activites
to help provide early relief for victems of a structure fire.

Annuel Fireworks Display and other events: The Rawlins Fire Department
provides manpower for setup, cleanup and standby fire suppression during the
Cty fireworks show. The RFD also provides standby for school sporting events,
the county races and many other city events throughout each year.

Mutual Aid: The Rawlins Fire Department currently has mutual ais agreements with, the city Police Department, Carbon
County Memorial Hospital, Carbon County Fire Departments, Sinclair Fire and Refinery, BLM, and Wamsutter Fire
Department. The RFD will provide apparatus and manpower on a will call basis to these several agencies through a joint
response when needed.
